Laura Elliott

Laura, a Newcastle University Geography graduate, began her career for event organisers, Great Run before moving into the charity sector as a Fundraising Manager for an international children’s charity. In 2014 she joined one of the largest hospice’s in the North East, St Oswald’s, where she immediately felt at home and her passion for the hospice sector began. Her role included a unique collaboration project with hospices in the region which saw her work with CEO’s, Trustees and her peers and take on a 3-year secondment as Head of Fundraising for one hospice, where she developed and implemented an ambitious fundraising strategy, which saw income double.

After moving to London in 2021, she joined Rennie Grove Peace Hospice where she is Head of Supporter Fundraising. Her passion for supporter engagement, stewardship and people is inherent in her management of the event, individual giving, community and supporter care teams and in her approach to her work on the organisation’s values and culture as part of the leadership team. Laura is a great believer in the power of collaboration, achieving a sustainable future for the hospice and charity sector and the responsibility we have as leaders to enable this.

Favourite Leadership Quote

“Leadership is all about people. It is not about organisations. It is not about plans. It is not about strategies. It's about people-motivating people to get the job done. You have to be people-centred.”
~ Colin Powell

I applied to this programme to build my confidence and challenge myself to grow as a leader. I have long admired the work of the Elischer Foundation and value the power of learning from others. Now feels like the right time to reflect on my leadership journey and to develop my skills, push myself outside of my comfort zone, and gain insight from diverse perspectives and experiences. I am also excited about the opportunity to connect with like-minded fundraisers who share my passion for the sector.
