Louise Millward

UK

Louise graduated from the University of Oxford with a BA in Geography and undertook an MSc in Development Studies at SOAS. Since then, she has specialised in philanthropy fundraising in large and medium-sized international charities and national membership organisations. As Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships at Freedom from Torture, Louise leads a team across trusts, major donors, events and corporate which in 2024 will deliver the charity’s first show garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, a resource which will be transferred back to the charity’s London Centre to reinvigorate the horticultural therapy programme for survivors of torture.

Louise is proud to be a trustee of Theatre for a Change, an organisation using participatory learning and drama to advance the sexual health and reproductive rights of women and girls. In 2019, inspired after meeting women organising in rural Uganda to protect their land rights, Louise stood for and held the post of Town Councillor in her hometown of Saffron Walden for four years.

“I applied to the programme to support the next step in my leadership skills development – learning from and with people in the sector, opening space in my career to reflect on my leadership style, strengths and opportunities for growth.”
